Lenny DiNardo VS. Kelvim ESCOBAR
Must win? How about "Must Not Lose"...
Post Your OPD Guesses In this thread...
Bonus Guess: Yes or No: Will Kelvim throw a pitch tonight in the 8th inning?

I Thought The Major
Was A Lady Suffragette.
It is Free All-Star Poster Night at the stadium. The number of them that get folded into giant paper airplanes and launched toward the field will be inversely proportionate to the Angels' dominance in the game...

good job oc
This is why you build a team on OBP, not AVG
Um, that's not entirely true
The best teams in the majors all have guys with great averages and great OBP numbers.
You can't win the World Series with a bunch of guys who can't put the ball in play but have a great OBP.
I agree, but that's like saying
A team that emphasis AVG, like the Angels, are prone to bad cold spells when the bats cool off. If they're not making hits, they're grounding or flying out instead of getting on base with walks.
That said, scareduck is right, if you take OBP to its extreme you have guys who can't bring baserunners home.

nows the inning
When was the las time Quinlan actually hit
You might as well play KOtch.
His .280/.321/.440 line against LHP
Morales has a .375/.375/.665 line against lefties this season yet got sent down.
Figure that one out.
Quinlan has 81 plate appearances against lefties
That's horrible. That should not get him played.
I'd still take that small sample size and use it
This is a little bit beyond
by Caseys Kiss of Death on Jul 24, 2007 9:21 PM PDT up reply actions
You keep saying a small sample size
I KEEP saying what?
And yes, obviously Scioscia would have to give Kendry Morales more at-bats for it not to be a small sample size. My 5 year old sister could tell me that. But why does Kendry DESERVE those at-bats right now? Because he went 2 for 4 one day, and 1 for 4 the next or something? OK, let's say we give him a game against lefties and he throws up an 0 for 4 spot. He's now batting .250 against lefties. He sucks, send him back to the minors, booooo. It's absurd for you to try to mask Kendry's 3 for 8 as "HE'S HITTING .375 OFF OF LEFTIES!". That's all I said, and it's true.
by Caseys Kiss of Death on Jul 24, 2007 9:36 PM PDT up reply actions
My mistake ..
Anyways, I understand the point that you're trying to make but wouldn't it be better to see if it were true that he was that good against lefties rather than wondering if it were true for the rest of the season? He couldn't be worse than Quinlan right now, that's for sure.
I love it when you guys

At least the A's didn't score 12 runs tonight
geez we suck.
Fire Hatcher. I blame him.
oh yeah
managers really need to work on a smaller scale.
The sad part is that this game could've been worse
And, that Wood is 22 years old ..
Did I not say "untapped" talent?
Anyone would be rusty as hell after a ten day stint on the end of the bench.
And, I just realized that you have no clue about
Untapped talent for a major league player is a lot different than untapped talent for a couch potato player.
I don't think so. I think I could hit .118
Um, John Lackey was all we needed
Okay so in the lineup
Willits apparently had talent but now it's untapped.
You realize

I'm another bad month away from starting to think this deal was as bad as I thought it was when I first heard of it.
Actually, not so much
Besides, after the New Dollar comes out to replace the hyperinflated and worthless U.S. Dollar in three years, his contract will look like pocket change (ha-ha-only-serious).

BRIGHT SIDE TIME!
- We moved a half game further from the Seattle Over-achievers.
- We further solidified our need for a big bat to Stoneman by having an utterly pathetic offense.
