Final Score: Angels 11, Detroit Tigers 6

Panther of the Game: Gary Matthews, Jr.

Could easily have been Figgy, Izzy or Speier, but GMJ's catch in the first inning was akin to the boy who stuck his finger in the dyke and saved Holland from drowning (Jered Weaver being the Amsterdam in this instance). Add in Gary's night at the plate and you have yourself the Panther that beat the Tigers.

Panther: GMJ
Twice stopped the Tigers momentum: probably saved the game with the catch in the 1st, and drove in the key 9th run, after the Tigers had closed to within 8-6.
Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!

Agree with HGH
as Panther.  It was nice to see him break out of his slump tonight.  Nice catch with almost another plus 3 hits and ribbies.  Can definitley live with that.

Couple of quick observations - I watched the game on TV and didn't visit game thread so I may be beating a dead horse but...
-This Umpire's strike zone tonight blew.  It was all over the place, the only conistency in it was that he was calling low pitches for the pitches.  Man it sucked though.
-I hope Naps aint hurt that bad because Mathis looks cluless at the plate.  I mean like "its an accident if I make contact" bad.

What? Figgins is playing better? Well, I still don't like him.

The ump was terrible
and your other observations are also correct. I have a feeling GMJ is going to erupt. Hope so.

Not there tonight, Rev?
I was fortunate enough to sit in 240 L 11 & 12, didn't see you or any other familiar faces around.

It could have been YESWECAN's night at the park
he might have been giving a new friend of his the grand tour of where she can expect tto spend a majority of her summer days and nights or the next few decades if she sticks with him...

what a game
Never mind that I missed the first 8 combined runs of the game (entire first inning) by managing to get stuck on the 5 for hours.

Good game once I actually made it in, especially when some chick cheering for the Tigers took off her shirt. And they say we don't know how to have fun in Anaheim.

The fireworks are always impressive.
