LA Times Blog Today

Well, well, well...Last night was a tough loss, for sure.

Now, at the risk of bringing up the taboo by citing this article, what does everyone think of this LA Times blog......(I mean the actual content of the blog, not the person who wrote it).

Sucking Dodger Cock as usual
It is always an emotional turning point toward failure for the Angels to read the Tribune Shit-For-Brain FishWrap.

How about a story of stealing away a whole neighborhood of poor Mexican's houses? Whoops, not enough ink left over from lamenting the Angels to diss the evil blue thieves.

Be careful not to go there!
There's a good chance that Angels Stadium may sit on land stolen away from poor Mexicans too. A large part of Orange County, er, "changed hands" after the US-Mexican War when the Californios saw their original Spanish land deeds voided up in Sacramento, or were forced to sell off parcels of their rancheros to pay off usury loans taken out to cover drought losses.

My favorite testimony to this rip-off is enshrined at the base of the statue of James Irvine, located towards the rear of Irvine Regional Park (a couple miles East of the stadium, up Katella, into the hills, nice place!) On the plaque there is a short history of the land ownership for the park. While great care is taken to track who had the land after our Mr. Irvine, the sentence which explains that, in the beginning, ol' Jim "came into the possession" of the land speaks volumes.

You living in a house. Probably stolen from
Mexicans who stole it from Indians who stole it from each other originally acquired by beating baby seals to death.

You guys are all babies.
Who cares if the LA Times doesn't recognize we are the best name in the Los Angeles area?

Who cares if ESPN doesn't go on and on about the Angels?

The way I look at it is, the less people that know about the Angels, the easier I can get playoff tickets.

right on
it snot like things didn't happen. Its in the past, it has no baring on what happens this season.

First of all
this isn't 1995 since, you know, losing the division could hardly be called a "collapse" in the first place.  There is zero resemblance besides the fact that the Angels happen to be in a race with the same team they were in a race with in 1995...and that's gonna happena fuckload when there are only FOUR TEAMS IN THE DAMN DIVISION.

Second of all, she referred to the Mets as the "once presumed uncatchable" team.  Yeah, what a load of shit that is.  I think half the sportswriters in the country didn't pick them to win the division this year.

I'm gonna put a restraining order on this moron to stay away from all things sports.

I thought he sucked even before I realized
he was a woman.  Incidentally, he was on some sports talk in LA, I think it was the big show.  And the whole interview was spent on how some idiot in S. Bernadino wrote an editorial criticizing his lifestyle et. al.  How boring...

"no chance of escaping thoughts of '95 whenever we look at the '07 Angels"

Yet how convenient to escape the thoughts of 2002, 2004 and 2005.

Ain't no stoppin' us now. We got the groove!

Wait
is this the chick who formerly had a dick?

I totally didn't realize that when I said my earlier comment.  So he (s)he the only female sports reporter in the world now?  It seems like every time I find a sports article written by a woman, it's her.

2002 Changed Everything
I'm sorry, but 2002 and the subsequent success of the team buried--COMPLETELY--the past failures of the Angels in the exact same way the Red Sox World Series championship in 2004 killed forever the "Curse of the Bambino" bullshit.  Trying to scare Angel fans with thoughts of 1995 is just laughable and should be seen as a desperate ply by a Dodger-loving paper to denigrate a far superior team and organization.

CORRECTION
it is a Dodger-Loving RAG. One wipes one's ass with paper, please do not insult such a convenient and widely-used consumer product by mentioning the worthless, fizzling LA Times in the same breath.

Why, Why WHY
do people keep buying and reading the LA Times? Sure, 30 years ago and beyond it was one of the great media powers in the nation. But, holy shit, back then the Ford Pinto was meaningful and relevant too. Why was it so easy for all of us to move beyond so many things that couldn't keep up with the orbit of the planet, but still insist on reading the LA Times as though it was actually an important thing to do?

By the way, this isn't some right-wing, pro OC Register, anti-liberal rant. The Register has been blowing chunks since the early 70's and is laughably dishonest. Nope. This is a 50 year old guy who is still nimble enough to realize that the Internet allows us to tailor our information consumption in ways that render the printed media totally obsolete. Even for things as silly as sports.

by Stirrups on Aug 2, 2007 11:47 PM PDT reply actions

P.S.
Yeah, I know that the LA Times blog is not printed media. But the Times online content would not exist if they did not have the abilty to cut and paste from their print editions. Those guys ain't good enough with online news by half.

Unfortunately
It's the "best" newspaper in the area.  I need something to read on the train to work each day, or to bring with me on my lunch hour.  The Pasadena Star-News and L.A. Daily News (my only alternatives) really aren't acceptable substitutes.

Tell your boss how much more
productive you would be if you had a Verizon card for your laptop while commuting on the train. It worked for me!

by Stirrups on Aug 3, 2007 12:02 PM PDT up reply actions

Heh
Aside from the fact that I don't have a laptop...

I work for the County.  I have a hard enough time just getting basic office supplies like paper and toner for my printer - we're talking filling out forms in triplicate, along with the signatures of two superiors, just for a ream of paper!

by jjackflash on Aug 3, 2007 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh man
my job is ridiculously simple then.  If we run out of a ream of paper, someone pulls out a wad of cash, throws it at someone else (usually me) and says "buy two".
