During Easter Week 1968 I went river rafting with Georgie White (the pride of Midway City) down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. We pushed off at Lee's Ferry and bailed out at Phantom Ranch. I have not seen anyone river raft down the Santa Ana River past the Big A.

On a game related note, I graduated from Foothill High School in Santa Ana in 1970. That is the same high school that Phil Hughes went to. Hughes' coach there was Vince Brown. Brown flew to New York to see the first major league game Hughes pitched in April. Vince Brown is the Commissioner of the South Sunrise Little League in Orange. My three sons played in the SSLL this spring. I would like to see the Halos sweep the Yanks. Realistically I expect the Angels to take 2-out-of-3 from the Bronx Bombers. If the Angels are to lose one they may as well lose to Phil Hughes.
