Yanked

Blame of the Game: Robb Quinlan

Nominees were...
Lackey (4 ER, 10 H)
Quinlan (0-3, 2 LOB)
Howie Kendrick (2 GIDP, 3 LOB, 1 for 3 until the meaningless 9th)

Is Scot Shields hurt? Is Figgy going to be gone longer? Has Lackey contracted a case of the emotion-sapping Santanas?

You can't give shield the blame if we were losing
3-1 and only managed to score 1 more run.

are WORSE than Kotch. And his defense if pitiful.

Hello Kennedy... the new Yankee reliever is a YANKEE, so he would be New York's answer to Papelbon.

Interesting observation from the game:
When ARod warms up in the on-deck circle, the light reflecting off of the meat of his bat strobes as he swings it from side to side. For all other hitters, the reflection makes a quick flash as it travels the length of the barrel.

The only way that makes sense is if the barrel of his bat is not smoothly round. It has tiny facets, like grooves, running the length of the barrel.

Not accusing the guy of anything. I'm just sayin'...

HK
One of the HK's GIDP was bullshit.
I'm giving Figgins a big F U. Seattle isn't winning 90. I am not worried.

by hauldog on Aug 23, 2007 12:41 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't know what you're talking about
HK shoulda been 3 for 4 with an RBI
<img src="http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:1HLD74VT6IN5TM:http://mlb.mlb.com/images/2002/10/30/gfiybQD5.jpg">

Correction... It woulda been 2 for 3 with an RBI.
The phantom out woulda been a fielders choice but with the RBI it doesn't count as an AB

HK gets my blame of the game
Hope Figgy is back quick.  Bone bruise...ouch.
They should shut Shields down for a week or so.  Let him get some rest.  Didn't he blow up in the dog days last year?

HK
Should never get the blame of the game! ;-)

Seriously, the HK series droids are seriously unstable. Not sure how he would take to criticism.

by anaheimisnotla on Aug 23, 2007 6:28 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I like hitting droids
Good to see our HK-47 is back from repairs.  His defensive range finder seems to be off a little though - there were a few hard hit balls that I think a lot of 2B would have gotten to.
If I went to war and could only take one weapon, it would be an HK47.

Scioscia
Shoulda started Wood. Had no business bringing Lackey into the 8th. Yanked Shields after an out instead of seeing whether he could start building up his confidence. Didn't pinch-hit for Mathis in the 8th. Argued what to my eyes was the wrong call at first (though maybe Howie was as safe as Matthews).

And as the biggest fan of platooning Q, I'm ready to not seem him start another game the rest of the year, unless it's to spell G.A. or something.

The loss wasn't anywhere near as bad as:
  1. Figgins out for several games with a bone bruise
  2. Shields loss of velocity and control
  3. Kotch getting hit on the hand.  Status still unknown until x-rays done today.

The best thing about last night's game was
Hud saying "antanomical" and "magnetic renaissance imaging." Classic.

by Higz on Aug 23, 2007 10:46 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Easily my favorite highlight.
Hud's gonna have a hard time living that down, although I'm not even sure if Phys had a clue what words Hudler was butchering.
