funk blast, rally fries, and their mascot is a moose. did anyone read Jay Mohr column on stupid mascots. "Why is the Seattle Mariners' mascot a Moose? A mariner is a seafaring explorer. It is guaranteed ....

... that the Halos will be in first place Friday night when Roger and I will be at the Big A for the first time since June 19th.

Monday was a big win for John Lackey considering the Tuesday and Wednesday pitching match-ups favor the Mariners. Going into this series I figured the Angels would win 1-of-3. With the first game win there is now a 45% chance that the Angels will win this Seattle series. I like Weaver the Younger chance against King Felix on Wednesday better than Evil Ways Santana against Weaver the Elder on Tuesday.

The silver lining of a loss or two at Seattle is that it will make it that more difficult for the Yankees to be the wild card. Would not it be nice if both the AL and NL wild cards came from the west? ESPN would then have to quote Jim Morrison "the west is the best, get here and we will do the rest."

Actually it is higher than that

There is a 45% chance the Angels will win the Wednesday finale in Seattle. I am picking Weaver the Elder to defeat Ervin Santana in tonight's game. Yes, WTE was atrocious as an Angel in 2006. However, as a Cardinal I saw the elder Weaver defeat the Dodgers in July and the Padres in October. Santana is pitching on the road where he frequently suffers breakdowns. Good news--Santana is 18-4 when I see him pitch and I will see him pitch Monday at the Big A against the A's.

Jimmy the Greek no doubt would give the Halos about a 65% chance of winning at least one of the two remaining games in Seattle. As always I reserve the right to be wrong. We are flying from Kathmandu to LAX via Bangkok tomorrow. We will have to depart for Tribhuvan International Airport about the 8th inning of the Tuesday Angels @ Mariners game. Friday night will be the next Angels game we attend.

Possible outcomes of the two remaining games

are:

Since the only scenario where the Halos lose the series is l-l, then the probability of winning the series is 1-pl1*pl2 where pl1 and pl2 are the individual probabilities of losing.

So if you assume 50%, pl1*pl2 = 25%. 1-25% = 75% probability of winning the series.

A 60% chance of losing each game would still yield a 64% chance of winning the series.

All of this is moot since we really want the sweep. 3-0 makes it 5 GA, 2-1 makes it 3 GA

WTE outpitched Santana

I filled in the blanks with the Angels having a 30% chance to win Tuesday and a 45% chance to win Wednesday.

Currently the Angels and Mariners are tied 5-5 in the middle of the 6th inning of the 8/28 game. Ervin Santana gave up 5 earned runs in 0.1 innings and Jeff Weaver gave up 5 earned runs in 4.1 innings. It says here that WTE outpitched Santana tonight. Hopefully the Angels will prove me wrong and win at least 2 games in this series.

We are off to the airport in 15 minutes. We will take off knowing that the Halos will be in first place when we go to the Big A on Friday night.

Typical GA... He was so lazy that he didn't even

come into the studio. He actually laughed a few times during the interview. I heard him on Simers Squared a few months back. I guess he and Simers have a good relationship. He was laughing and making jokes, when I first tuned in I had know idea who it was.

Bavasi was also on Rome yesterday. I guess the karma doesn't work for the front office.
