Angels Baseball GAME 134/162 THREAD

Not 'dem Cowboys @ Angels - 7 PM
Manuel Noriega Vicente Padilla vs. Joe SAUNDERS

Star-divide

Our Lefty versus their Ugly. I'd call it a face-off, but you just know Padilla has heard that suggestion dozens of times in his life.

POST Your OPD Guesses in this thread before gametime!

recall the late '80s,
and picture, in your mind, deposed Panamanian strongman narcokleptocrat Manuel Noriega.

Now, picture him in a blue Texas Rangers baseball hat.

Thought he was in lockdown in Florida?

That's what they want you to think.

(how much do we really know about this alleged "Vicente Padilla"? Hmm?)

Vicente Padilla ...
... took one for the team at the All-Star Game in Milwaukee.  He claimed he could not warm up and the game was called a tie.  As a result two-thirds of the players were able to catch flights out of Milwaukee that night so that they could have an off day at home.  The nation's media were bribed with food and drink not to report that.  Not being able to warm up is not a proof that Padilla is Manuel Antonio Noreiga (I once stayed at Manuel Antonio beach on Costa Rica's Pacific coast.  That is the only reason I remember Noreiga's middle name) in disguise.  The closest Pineapple Face will ever get to throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game is to watch a game on a tv set in prison.  It was more classy of Noreiga to hide in a church than in a hole in the ground like Saddam Hussein.  Manuel missed out on the dental cavity search and the neck-tie party.

... go to a baseball game!  Roger and I will be cheering the Angels on to victory tonight!  We arrived home from Kdu at 2345 Wednesday night.  All five of us are wide awake now (0015 on Friday PDT).  I spent the early morning going through 10 weeks of mail and found about 10 teaser rate offers to refinance our mortgage.  Isn't the 11th Commandment "never sign a mortgage that you cannot pay off any time you choose?"

Before the season started I figured the Angels to get 101 regular season wins and win the World Series in 6 games.  The entire second half I have been confident that I aced the AL West:

  1.  Angels
  2.  Mariners
  3.  Athletics
  4.  Rangers
That doubles as the order that I like the teams.  Hey, I have friends in Seattle!  That said, I prefer Peet's Coffee to Starbucks.

They had the bases loaded and only 1 out.  Ibanez hits a ball up the middle that looks like a sure single, except Jays 2B Aaron Hill makes a spectacular play to spear the ball, flip to second (with an oncoming Guillen barrelling into second) and a great scoop at 1st by Overbay to complete the GAME ENDING DOUBLE PLAY!

Mathis got a great break.
The ball to 2B was near the basepath. He chose to throw home and had no chance. The ball got to the catcher late, and the throw was high. Bad choice.

And, Howie has a tendency to drop throws from catcher and OF. We might be in for a long era of giving up tons of SB's.

How did the designers get away with that in this day and age.

Only thing better would be if they were made in China with that special brand of export to America paint they use.
