RAT-A-TAT-TAT
Panther of the Game: Maicer Izturis

The Miceman cometh! On a day obsessed with rats and a game with contributions from just about everyone, the unexpected sucker punch to Curt Schilling came from the Mouse. And that helped exterminate at least one rat in anaheim!

I've been doing this since last year.
I call him Kazoo
HERE HERE......
PANTHER: Maicer all the way
lotta baffled hitters tonight
as duckie pointed out in the game thread, he was a bit inconsistent, but i didn't think he was terrible.
nonetheless, both angels and sox batters looked baffled at a LOT of calls.
umpire on gameday
Confirmed live
My question is -- was Mathis' tag from third legit?
according to the rules
"Catcher Jeff Mathis, 24, chased Schilling with a ringing double into the left-field corner, taking third on 26-year-old Reggie Willits' perfect bunt and scoring on Chone Figgins' sacrifice fly that rookie Brandon Moss juggled in left field, causing some confusion. The umpiring crew had it right, ruling that the runner can advance as soon as leather touches ball."
i'm assuming this is the play you're referring to.

kotchman & figgy
how frustrated was this blog when figgy slumped to begin his season? yeah, nobody's bitching now. a .340 BA is PANTHER.
The Umpire
Actually, I just answered my own question. He is indeed a minor league umpire.
Mice Tits all the way
I didn't Tivo the game, but can you guys answer the following that was hard to figure out from the right field corner
- Did Manny swing on the last pitch of his K before getting tossed?
- Any idea what Manny said to get tossed so quickly?
- Was that ball foul tipped when Lowell struck out and they got all wet again.
- On the sac fly in the 7th, did Moss bobble it or did he have possession and then lost it in the transfer?
Nevermind
By the way, I was in a den of chowds down in right field. Two really drunk Boston fans were riding Vladdy all night, cussing him out and even flipped him off late in the game. All this right next to a little 10-11 yr old girl wearing a Expos Vladdy jersey and a Vladdy Dominican Republic hat. Real classy guys.
Boston= worst fans ever

are you sure they weren't the rats?

answers
- yes, the bat crossed the plate as he twisted his body around.
- i'm no lip-reader, but Hud said that manny repeated a nasty phrase to the ump after the ump asked him what he said.
- on reply, it looked clean. no tip.
- he bobbled it, but the rule says that as soon as he touches the ball, the runner can tag up, regardless of whether or not he bobbles it.
Red Sox
5-2 for the season when i'm there
Must say, definitely the best game I've been to this season, had pretty decent 3B outfield seats. Cabrera's play was the sweetest thing I've ever in a long time, and Mice Tits with the homerun? Unfruckingbelievable.
Manny kicked out in the 3rd inning was HUGE (see: Moss' bobble, Moss last out in 9th).
This game was sweet on so many levels.
Oh, and unlike last year, the red sox fans near me were actually respectful and knowledgable about baseball. Not quite sure how I got that lucky, but it was pretty awesome.
P.S. I had an idea during the 7th inning stretch
Now that would be sweet.
why not live ones?
Figgins = trade
We need power and Figgins hardly done anything to prove that he has learned anything over the last year or two. He may need to get benched or something.
Every time I watch the guy, all he does is get on-base and be a catalyst in the lineup.
He hasn't done as well on the field and the fact is that his .340 average doesn't work for the Angels. Neither does his .395 on-base percentage or his 30 steals this season.

I agree. I'm rooting for Ichiro and Magglio
if figgins wins a battle title
that is the worst logic i've ever seen on this site, and that's saying a lot.
