GAME THREAD - Athletics at Angels - 7:05 pm PDT
Barry Zito v. Hector Tabasco
April is all over and all of this peppy "The season is still early...." stuff is gonna get old quite soon, so let's look at how the division stacks up in the big picture:
We suck. They suck.
They whine about the cost of their injuries more than we do, so they seem to be the better team just a groin-pull away from dominance. But that ain't reality, last year or this. But we both suck and their fans just stay on message once The Spin is established.
We will look at the standings in a month, until then it is just grind (each game) and find (a solution), but there cannot be more than a week of these Let's try out the crankshaft as a solution to the carburetor methods left before a solution is agreed upon...
If Mike Scioscia don't know what is broke and what is the fix in the next two weeks, it is gonna be a long season, but at least I will get better season seats as the bandwagoneers get shaked off the club...
Of course, given the chance to juggle the lineup or have a closed door meeting (no chairs thrown), Scioscia had a closed-door meeting. After a three game losing streak that featured our Manager-in-Chief starting Edgardo Alfonzo as Designated Hitter, it is going to take a four game winning streak to get that Fonzie-DH taste out of my mouth...
Scouting Report:
Some Angel Batters Against Zito
Anderson 20/58 .919 ops
Erstad 13/49 .676 ops
Quinlan 4/12 1.345 ops
Best case scenario is that Oakland stays in the race just long enough that they cannot get anything of trade value for Barry Zito and then the Dodgers sign him as a free agent for big bucks and he hits an even more rapid decline. Gosh, let's all paint a rosy picture kids and think positive thoughts!

Thrown like a star in my vast sleep
I open my eyes to take a peep
To find that I was by the sea
Gazing with tranquility.
