Fifth Starter Controversy about all there is....

Here is why the glass is half full:

Angel fans are rising up over what to do about Ervin Santana. Bench him, trade him, send him down. Bring up Saunders, split time with Moseley, platoon him with Mike Butcher.

Meanwhile...
the April slumps are thawing...
Vlad's 1.058 OPS is 3rd in the AL...
Reggie Willits is a Rookie-of-the-Year candidate...
John Lackey is tied for the league lead with 7 wins...
Howie Kendrick is back and has tripled...
Kelvim Escobar's 1.13 WHIP is in the league top ten (and the brunette he added as a MySpace friend on Wednesday is smokin')...
the defense has rebounded from the depths of 2006...
We've been in first place almost every day this season...
Oakland looks like a triage ward...
Seattle scored the same 12 runs as Detroit did yesterday but lost to Tampa Bay in the process...
and Texas is still the home of Michael Young - Rob Neyer's choice of best player in the division.

So the fan base is abuzz about what to do with our FIFTH starter. The Yankees have had ELEVEN starters this season, most have sucked and some are injured and out for the year. Meanwhile we are debating the merits of whether our designated 6th and 7th starters would be better to move into the 5th starter role.

Other than debating the Fifth starter, oh yeah, our 5th and 6th relievers are not Cy Young candidates. Damn that Stoneman! Our 3Bman is not Troy Glaus. The fools, the fools! Oh, and here is a controversey, our middle of the order hitter is hurt and when he comes back, he might force our Designated Hitter to the bench. Scioscia is doing it with smoke and mirrors! And of course, don't forget that we are in First Place at the season's one-third mark without Juan Rivera, who may serve as August calvary or September luxury.

Isn't it great to have such little things to complain about?

Cue Jackie Gleason...
HOW SWEET IT IS !!!
