Overlooked on our Post-2005 Top 100 Angels list was hard-luck pitching workhorse Rudy May. A loser of 17 games for the 1973 Angels, Rudy started 170 games for the Angels, #10 all time in franchise history. He appeared in 60 more in relief over the course of his SEVEN seasons with the club. In 100+ innings as a Halo he threw 12 shutouts (7th all time). He struck out 13 fewer batters than Dean Chance in 102 fewer innings pitched as an Angel.
But he was a hard luck pitcher, compiling the worst winning percentage (.402) of any Angels pitcher who has thrown more than 500 innings as a starter. His achilles heel was giving up walks - His BB/9 was 3.83, he is 5th all time in club history with 484 Walks surrendered... and one can assume that many of them scored, and probably on one of the 96 HR he allowed (11th all time).
