Angel Victory in Anderson's 2,000th Game with K-Rod's 57th Save

Garret Anderson has only played for one team in his career and just keeps driving in runs. Francisco Rodriguez has only played for one team in his career and just keeps saving games.

Anderson drove in 3 runs in his 2,000th major league game, assuring the win for Starter Jered Weaver. A bases-loaded single plated two in a 5-run 6th inning and the younger Weaver was assured his 11th victory.

After clinching the American League West yesterday courtesy of a Seattle Mariner victory over Texas, the Angels beat the Mariners in a game that at one late point was a lopsided laugher. But enter Angel reliever Justin Speier, assuring himself (and us) of not making the postseason roster with a terrible 3-run 8th inning and Scot Shields put men on in the 9th to create a save situation. With the tying run on deck, Francisco Rodriguez entered with his reggaeton beat and promptly got Ichiro Suzuki to ground into a double play. After allowing two singles, Angel killer Raul Ibanez stepped into the batter's box, representing the tying run. Ibanez grounded to Kendry Morales unassisted and Rodriguez raised both arms into the air.

And a roaring celebration was in order for the Angels closer. It was an historic save - Rodriguez tied Bobby Thigpen's single season Saves record with his 57th save.

Panther of the Game: Garret Anderson
