ANAHEIM, CA -- The Angels, in an effort to promote awareness and community outreach for Green Initiatives, are teaming up with the club’s broadcast partner Fox Sports West to introduce Green Day at Angel Stadium, Tuesday, April 21st, when the Angels host the Detroit Tigers. Game time is 7 p.m. (with Gates opening at 5 pm). Green Day will feature a promotional giveaway made of recycled materials, vendors showcasing environmentally responsible products and services, as well as in-game announcements followed by the collection of recyclable bottles and cans.
Upon arrival at the stadium, every fan in attendance will receive an Angels banner made of recycled materials. Environmentally responsible products and services will be showcased by such sponsors as:
- Fetzer Vineyards
- Cal Micro
- City of Anaheim
- Southern California Edison
- EZ Green Bike
- Laguna Green
- Subaru
- Klean Kanteen
- Goodwill
- Everything Earth
The sponsors, along with a display of environmentally-responsible Subaru automobiles will be located in front of the Home Plate Gate entrance to the stadium in order to greet fans entering the stadium.
Fans who bring in any recyclable item will receive a free gift such as Angels tickets, movie passes, coupons or other sponsor-donated items. These items will be available at the Home Plate Gate recycling table. In addition, “Green Team” volunteers will walk through the stadium aisles during the sixth and eighth innings to collect bottles and cans. This collection of the recyclable materials will be accompanied by an announcement informing fans of the benefits of recycling.
“Besides putting a winning team on the field, Angels Baseball is also committed to having a winning team off the field,” said Angels President Dennis Kuhl. “And that means making a commitment to our community by promoting environmentally-safe practices within the family-friendly setting of Angel Stadium. For the last couple of years we have been working closely with our facility personnel, food service and merchandising partners to utilize environmentally friendly products and services throughout the ballpark. Green Day is one more way the Angels can promote greater awareness and support for the standards of environmental stewardship.”
The Angels and their stadium partners, AEG Merchandising and Aramark Food Services, are making efforts to make the stadium greener through recycling programs, conservation, and through the use of green products.
