Weaver Completes Domination Of Toronto, Angels Win

Final Score in Los Angeles of Anaheim: Angels 6, Blue Jays 1

Rev Halofan reporting: It was a retro night celebration that saw Angels players don circa- 1980 uniforms, fans get free 1980 hats and scoreboard player introductions feature photoshopped caricatures of contemporary Blue Jays and Angels as 80s icons. But Jered Weaver spoiled the theme and pitched more like circa-1970s Angel Nolan Ryan.

Weaver pitched a Complete Game 3-Hitter, allowing a solo homerun and striking out 8. On a night that featured Neutron Dance and Electric Avenue, Weaver simply Whipped it good.

The Angels offense looked sparky one night after facing Roy Halladay. DH Mike Napoli and 1B Kendry Morales homered, Chone Figgins was 3 for 4 and Maicer Izturis had 2 RBI.

No Angel reliever even bothered to take off the pullover to warm up and show off the classic 1980s Angels pullover, featuring a stretched San-Serif font and yellow halo. For one night they looked like the California Angels, they pitched like the California Angels and they hit as if Reggie and Bobby Grich were making life easy for Mike Witt.

To complete this Back to the Future theme, former divisional rival Kansas City comes to town for three game series beginning Friday night. In first place and bringing baseball's best pitcher to the mound, it will not be Brett and Saberhagen, but Teahen and Greinke will be taken more seriously than the powder blue memories of yesteryear.
