Final Score in Minnesota: Angels 11, Twins 6
When Maicer Izturis hits a three run jack late in a close game on the road you know that, as a team, you are living right. 6WG: We Will Win With What We Got!
When Gary Matthews goes 3 for 5 with 3 RBI... and it is not 2006... You know that, as a team, you are living right.
The Angels took to the hard Minneosta turf with an intensity that stomped the home team twins into the plasti-grass for the 2nd game in a row. After Ervin Santana gave up 5 runs in 5 innings last night, Joe Saunders gave up 4 in 6, Matt Palmer dropped a deuce in 1 and 2-thirds innings; in the recent Angels seasons past that would have been the death knell for the team, but the offense of pressuring basehits (in the game, there were 12 Angels singles... ha ha sounds like a pick-up bar on a Friday night) mixed in with the occasional double blasted thru again.
Oddly, this was the rare Angel victory that was not a come-from-behind variety, beneftting from a 2nd inning 2-Ribby Gary Matthews double. With the score 6-4 in the 6th, Little Maicer Izturis hit a 3-Run Homer off of reliever R.A. Dickey and the cement started drying fast on the foundation of another Angels victory.
The Angels now lead the American League west by 4 games over the Texas Rangers.
