OF Torii Hunter extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a bunt single in the ninth inning Thursday. Hunter has hits in 33 of his past 36 games, wrapped around a 32-game stay on the disabled list with a groin injury. Hunter is batting .400 (22-for-55) during the season-high hitting streak.

LHP Trevor Reckling, who is in Class AA, has been invited to play for Team USA in the Baseball World Cup, Sept. 9-27 in Europe. The 20-year-old Reckling (one of the Angels' top-ranked prospects) is 8-6 with a 2.90 ERA in Class AA after starting this season in Class A. He is one of 23 players selected for the international competition.
