Final Score in Anaheim: Yankees 3, Angels 2
The Angels were left without the simple clutch single that would have handed them the game against a dawdling old Yankees squad feasting on a generous strike one for mid-career hack A.J. Burnett. Angels lefty Scott Kazmir was yet again denied run support and only suffered one bad inning, but the result was a loss and the Angels magic number stalled at 5.
LEFT ON BASE:
Erick Aybar - 6 runners, Torii Hunter 4, Bobby Abreu and Howie Kendrick 3 apiece, and with 2 runners stranded was every other Angels batter including pinch-hitter Maicer Izturis ... with the exception of Gary Matthews Jr., who stranded no runners.
The Angels will now have only their 2nd day off in the past 6 weeks. And do they ever need it.
