Many Angels Left on Base in Jered Weaver Win

Final Score at Angel Stadium: Angels 5, Indians 2... The Angels left a combined 26 men on base in Monday night's game in addition to grounding into 2 double plays, but managed to score 5 runs and ride the excellent pitching of Jered Weaver and the gutsy relief of Kevin Jepsen to a victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Some Highlights:

  • Bobby Abreu had a 2-Run homerun and made a highlight reel running catch of a Grady Sizemore fly that had bases clearing double written all over it.
  • Hideki Matsui got his 1,000th Major League hit (he had over 1,300 in Japan)
  • Erick Aybar led the game off with a HR, the first leadoff homer of his career
  • Kevin Jepsen came in with the bases loaded and only one out and got out of it
  • Kendry Morales was named AL player of the week prior to the game and then was the only Angel to go hitless in the game.
  • Brian Fuentes struck out the side in the 9th for a Save.
  • Brandon Wood's batting average got closer to his weight as he went 3-4.
  • Jered Weaver got the W, throwing 106 pitches in 6 innings and striking out 7.
