Joel Piñeiro 3 HR Inning Dooms Angels in Detroit

FINAL SCORE IN DETROIT: LAA 6, DET 10 ...

It was actually a 1-2-3 third inning that doomed Angels pitcher Joel Pineiro on Friday night. He looked so good against the power hitting Tigers that Mike Scioscia stuck with him in rough 4th inning, ignoring a solo homer and a 2 run shot in the inning - and only taking out the righty when he surrendered a Grand Slam to Tigers rookie Brennan Boesch. It was the first HR of Boesch's career.

In the 8th inning, the Angels actually brought the tying run to the on-deck circle, a testament to their battling back ability as much as to how well the ball was carrying for both teams on a warm night at Comerica Park. Another plus: Torii Hunter hit a 3-Run homerun for the second consecutive game. It gave the Angels a 2 run cushion in the 3rd inning, 4-2, but the highlight reel was a short one on Friday night.

About the best thing one can say is that they wipe the slate clean tomorrow morning and we may never have to talk about about this game again...
