ANGELS AGREE TO TERMS WITH TOP DRAFT PICKS SS TAYLOR LINDSEY AND CF RYAN BOLDEN
ANAHEIM, CA - The Angels Tuesday announced the club has agreed to terms on minor league contracts with top draft selections SS Taylor Lindsey (37th overall) and CF Ryan Bolden (40th overall). No terms of the agreements were released. This announcement was made by Angels' Director of Scouting Eddie Bane.
At the same time, Bane also announced the Angels have agreed to terms with 30 additional players selected in the recent 2010 draft, including RHP Daniel Tillman, the second round pick from Florida Southern College and SS Wendell Soto, the third round pick from Riverview High School (FL).
"We are very pleased with this year's draft," said Bane who has spent the past seven seasons as the Angels' Director of Scouting. "The signings are moving along very well and we are encouraged to see many of our draft picks already playing."
Lindsey, selected in the compensation round of the draft, hails from Scottsdale , AZ. The 6'0", 185-pounder attended Desert Mountain HS where he batted .594 (57/96) with 13 HR and 40 RBI.
Bolden, a 6'3" outfielder, helped lead Madison Central HS (MS) to the Class 5A State Championship in 2010. He was named one of the Top 100 high school players in the nation by Baseball America and batted .347 (34/98) with eight home runs, 31 RBI and 19 stolen bases. Bolden signed a letter of intent to play baseball with Ole Miss.
The Halos had five of the first 40 picks in the 2010 draft and selected a total of 55 players overall. The draft picks include 23 pitchers (15 RHP - 8 LHP), six catchers, 16 infielders and 10 outfielders. Among the 55 players drafted were 33 collegiate players, five community college players and 16 high school players.
