Angels continue to score runs, Kazmir continues to give them up. Halolinks.

Brewers 11, Angels 8 - MLB News - FOX Sports
Angels manager Mike Scioscia wants to see more from Kazmir. ''He's made progress, but he still hasn't shown that he's broke through whatever it is that's holding him back from getting back to where he was,'' Scioscia said. ''Some of the things that plagued him today are the stuff we've seen, like (not) putting hitters away. ... You can look back and say that his linescore is ugly, but we've got to see as they get into the regular season. The consistency wasn't there. We'll see where this leads. Right now he's got to put some pitches together with consistency.''

The only consistency Kazmir has shown is his ability to give up runs. On a positive note, this was the 11th time the Angels scored 7 runs or more this spring and the 7th time in the past 9 games. Although the Angels are just 14th in the majors in runs scored, they've improved as the spring has progressed and the competition has gotten better. By the way, they're also 14th in runs allowed.

AL West preview: Rangers look to overcome offseason turmoil - Yahoo! Sports
I don't like how the team (Angels) is put together. I'd pick them to finish last, if not for the Triple-A roster in the Pacific Northwest.

I don't think the Angels are that bad, but I do think they have a pretty thin roster. As with most teams, but more so with this season's halo club, injuries are going to effect how well they finish. Any significant downtime from one or more of their starting pitchers (except Kazmir), and this season is over.

A COUPLE MORE LINKS AFTER THE BREAK...

Wells rests with 'very mild' hamstring strain - angels.com

There's three stories under this link:

  • Vernon Wells, who tweaked his left hamstring running to first base on Wednesday against the Giants, won't play again until the Angels alight in Southern California for their final three exhibition games Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
  • It appears likely right-hander Joel Pineiro will make a brief appearance on the disabled list to open the season before making his first start on April 8 in the Angels' home opener against the Blue Jays, if all goes as planned.
  • Angels first baseman Kendrys Morales has been fitted for orthotic inserts in both shoes and said the soreness on the ball of his left foot has diminished.

The Angels are just being cautious with Wells, and from the comments from Pineiro in this article, it sounds like the Angels are putting him on the DL to free up a spot to carry another relief pitcher as he states he feels fine.

2011 Promotional Events and Giveaways – American League : Baseball Daily Digest
Looking at the American League teams, an average of 56 games will include at least one promotion or giveaway in 2011 (including Boston who has no scheduled promotions again).

This is a cool list of each A.L. team's promotional events in case you're planning on a trip to another stadium. Does anyone else think it's interesting that the Red Sox don't do giveaways?
