Aybar led off the 11th with his 3rd hit of the game. Abreu and Izturis also singled to load the bases which set up the game-winning base hit for Torii Hunter as the Angels win again in extra innings. This win brings the Halos back to .500 at home (7-7).
Not to be lost in the walk-off was Tyler Chatwood who, in his sixth career start, pitched his best game for the Angels. He went 8 innings while allowing only 1 earned run, 2 hits, 5 strikeouts and walking 5. His only run allowed came in the 4th inning after hitting Asdrubal Cabrera with a pitch and later scoring on a groundout by Travis Hafner. The Angels tied the game with a leadoff hit by Bobby Abreu who came around to score on a Maicer Izturis 2B to Right-Center field. A shame that it all goes down as a no-decision for the rookie.
Scott Downs pitched a scoreless 9th, Jordan Walden held serve in the 10th and Fernando Rodney pitched the 11th for his first win of the season.
This is the Angels first win in their special "retro" jerseys this season and Mike Scioscia's 999th career win as the manager of the Angels. Staff ace Jered Weaver will take the ball tomorrow evening at 6:05 PM in his attempt at win number 7 on the season and for Scioscia's 1000th win since becoming manager in 2000.
