Jarrod Parks Angels 24th Rounder Promoted to High A

New, comments

The Inland Empire 66ers emailed press release was simple:

Infielder Jarrod Parks has been transferred from Rookie Level Orem to Inland Empire

Although this promotion was due to a hamstring injury to 66ers infielder Dwayne Bailey, it is pretty amazing to see the Angels promoting a 24th round draft pick from this June's draft to High-A from Rookie Ball Orem less than a month after choosing the kid in the draft.

Sam Farber of the Angels A-Ball affiliate IE 66ers sends out Jarrod's stat pack:

Parks was the Angels 24th round pick this year out of Mississippi State. 2011 was his first year as a full time starter for the Bulldogs after playing in just 20 games in 2009 and sitting out 2010 after undergoing back surgery. Parks led Mississippi State in multiple offensive catagories last year including batting average (.363), hits (77), triples (3), walks (44), hit by pitches (20), and on base percentage (.507). He was selected All-SEC 2nd team last year.

Bulldog, indeed.
