Opening Day, April 1, 2013 is ninety-eight days away.

There have been one hundred walkoff homers in Angels history. This is the story of #98.

July 8, 2011 - This game will go down in Angels history, and perhaps even baseball history, as the day Mike Trout made his major league debut. Many of the 40,161 in attendance on this Friday night game were there to see history being made. Trout batted ninth and went 0 for 3 in a game that was knotted at 3-3 in the eighth when the Angels loaded the bases, only to see Seattle reliever David Pauley get out of the jam.

Jordan Walden pitched a scoreless top of the ninth and Pauley, he of the two groundball outs in the eighth, went to the mound again.

Mark Trumbo led off the inning. He hit a 1-2 pitch into the rockpile. Angels win 4-3. Oh, and moosemastr totally called it on the game thread here at Halos Heaven. The Angels were now only one game back of the Rangers.

This was Mark Trumbo's first career walkoff homerun. It was the 98th in franchise history.
