Opening Day (April 1, 2013) is 97 days away. We are counting down the 100 Walk Off Home Runs in Angels franchise history. Today we look at #97, Bobby Abreu beats Seattle in extras...
September 10, 2010 - A Friday night Big A crowd was served up a 5-hit, 1-run performance by Jered Weaver. Up 3-1, the Angels brought in closer Fernando Rodney. He squandered the Save opportunity and the Win for Weav, allowing two earned runs.
Kevin Jepsen, Jordan Walden and Michael Kohn each pitched a scoreless inning and Rich Thompson pitched two, taking us to the bottom of the fourteenth inning. With one out, Bbby Abreu did something he rarely ever did. He swung at the first pitch. Ballgame. Bobby Abreu hit a solo walk off home run in the bottom of the 14th inning to beat the Mariners. The game was almost four hours long - and once MMP announced he was pissed off it was over.
It was Abreu's second walk off homer as an Angel and it was the 97th in club history.
