Angels Sign Jason Isringhausen

The Angels today agreed to terms on a minor league contract with RHP Jason Isringhausen (iz-ring-how-zin). Today’s announcement was made by General Manager Jerry Dipoto.

Isringhausen, 39, appeared in 53 games for the New York Mets in 2011, posting a 3-3 record with seven saves and a 4.05 ERA (46.2 IP – 21 ER), walking 24 batters while striking out 44. The right-hander recorded 19 holds while converting seven of 11 save opportunities.

The Brighton, IL native was drafted by the New York Mets in the 44th round of the 1991 draft out of Southwestern High School. In his 15-year career, Isringhausen has pitched for four Major League teams (New York, Oakland, St. Louis, Tampa Bay). He has compiled a 48-53 career record with three complete games (one shutout), 300 saves and a 3.62 ERA (962 IP – 387 ER) in 674 games (52 starts). The right-hander currently ranks third among active pitchers with 300 career saves.
