Angels 2011 First Round Pick C.J. Cron went 5-for-5 with a home run and four RBI to power the 66ers to a 7-2 win over Lake Elsinore. Inland Empire (4-2) combined the offensive effort with a quality start from rehabbing Angel starter Jerome Williams to beat Lake Elsinore (2-4) and set up a rubber match on Wednesday.

The early headline for the game was a bit of the impossible for the 66ers. Jeremy Cruz hit a line drive to left which rattled around in the outfield long enough for him to come around with an inside-the-park home run. The three runs he drove in brought the 66ers to a 4-0 lead.

The advantage was plenty for the 66ers with a big leaguer on the mound. Williams delivered six quality innings while allowing just two runs on six hits for his first win on his rehab assignment with the 66ers. The bullpen was solid as well chipping in three scoreless innings.

The real story of the day though was Cron who had his best offensive night of the young season going a perfect 5-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and four RBI. Cron now has a five game hit streak, and is among the California League leaders in runs batted in through six games this season.

Inland Empire has one more game on their season opening road trip in Lake Elsinore Wednesday night. It will be a rubber match for the three game series with each side having won one so far. Wednesday night's tie-breaker can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 6:55.

The 66ers home opener is set for Thursday, April 12th as the 66ers debut their newly named San Manuel Stadium. It will be a Thirsty Thursday, sponsored by Hangar 24, and all fans in attendance will receive a 66ers magnet schedule.
