Weaver Opens Angels Winning

Jered Weaver threw more pitches than he would have probably liked because of a Mark Trumbo throwing error and a missed popup, but the experiment at 3B paid off when Trumbo was part of a hack-attack-athon 8th inning, one of three Angels who hit a single prior to an KC error bringing in the first run of the game followed quickly by a bases-clearing Erick Aybar triple. Weaver had stuck around to pitch the eighth and was rewarded for his effort with the W, a ten-strikeout four-hitter.

Kendrys Morales got his first hit in his first game back since his 2009 injury to start the rally, being immediately replaced by pinchrunner Alexi Amarista. Chris Iannetta, wearing Darin Erstad's #17, singled in his first game as an Angel in that rally as well.

The only Angel in the Opening Day lineup without a hit tonight: Albert Pujols.
