The Angels have promoted catcher John Hester from AAA Salt Lake to replace Chris Iannetta who will be having surgery on his damaged wrist and is expected to miss six to eight weeks. Hester was hot at SLC lately, having hit a 3-run HR on May 7 for the Bees on the road in Las Vegas. No word on how he did at the tables after the game.

Bobby Wilson is expected to catch the majority of games with the Angels. Hank Conger is on the minor league disabled list with an elbow strain.

According to his RotoWorld Page, Hester played in the major leagues with the Diamondbacks. He was released in late April by the Orioles and signed by the Angels at the first sign of trouble to Conger. His career numbers are way better than Jeff Mathis in case you were wondering.

The Angels must make a corresponding move to clear room for Hester on their 40-Man roster as well as promote a catcher to Salt Lake City. Busy afternoon on the same day as a crucial series with Texas begins.
