After finishing off a sweep of the Colorado Rockies to stay three games back of the division leading Rangers, your Los Angeles Angels are looking to continue their win streak against the team with the best record in the majors, the Los Angeles Dodgers of Los Angeles. The Halos have won nine of their last twelve games against the boys in blue.
Game 1:
Garrett Richards (1-0) 1.13 ERA vs. Chris Capuano (8-2) 2.82 ERA
Game 2:
J. Williams (6-3) 4.02 ERA vs. Harang (5-3) 3.95 ERA
Game 3:
C.J. Wilson (7-4) 2.39 ERA vs. Eovaldi (0-2) 1.93 ERA
I think the the pitching match-ups here are pretty equitable so these games will likely come down to offense. Fortunately, I think we have the firepower to make it happen. The Dodgers are #1 in the MLB Power Rankings so they have some as well. Potential World Series practice series?
Mark Trumbo and Mike Trout are continuing their torrid offensive campaigns while getting more than adequate support from a streaking Torii Hunter in the 2-hole and from Albert Pujols who's batting .256 after going 25-70 in his last 19 games. The offensive output from these two veterans is complementing the banner seasons of our younger players to the point that we're are no longer being ignored by the baseball world.
This team is hot and playing magnificent baseball at times. Things can only get better after Jered Weaver and Chris Ianetta return to the lineup which is fortunate. The HeeHaw Cowboys of Arlington would be well advised to prepare for second place following yet another pitching loss when Ogando was pulled in the 4th inning in San Francisco on Sunday with a leg injury.
Side notes:
- Albert Pujols is batting .545 off Campuano.
- Since the apex of our bullpen meltdowns the Halos BP is sporting a combined .207BAA, 38BB/75SO, and a 2.42ERA.
- We've won 14 of our last 18 road games. #RoadWarriors
Rex's Keys to the Game:
1. Pitch well.
2. Hit well.
3. Prevent the other team from doing same.
