Final Score in Anaheim: Diamondbacks 0 Angels 2

Angels starter Ervin Santana faced two batters over the minimum tonight, surrendering a single hit, walking one and striking out five batters in a complete game 102-pitch effort.

In what was to be the 24th 1-hitter in Angels history, tonight we saw a performance from Santana that ABSOLUTELY NO ONE SAW COMING. He retired the first twenty batters he faced in short order before surrendering a clean single back up the middle to OF Justin Upton in the Diamondbacks half of the 7th inning. His only other blemish would be a lone walk issued to PH Miguel Montero in the 9th.

Former Angels LHP Joe Saunders made his return to Angel Stadium tonight, in a battle of 2008 all-stars, but was knocked around for eight hits in six innings. Mark Trumbo supplied all the offense the Angels would need with a two run shot to the left field bullpen in the 1st inning. After that, Santana brought out the voodoo stick and did his best snake charmer act on the Diamondbacks lineup, keeping them sedated in the basket and off the scoreboard this evening.
