Angels Pull a Post-Hank Conger Roster Shuffle

Back for more ...or less?
The Angels made two roster moves before Monday night's game. As reported here earlier, the Angels optioned Catcher Hank Conger to AAA and recalled Bobby Wilson off of the 7-Day Concussion Symptoms Disabled List. The team also called up Salt Lake infielder Andrew Romine and designated reliever David Pauley for assignment.

Pauley was already DFA'd once this season and cleared waivers. He then returned to the 40-Man roster when the bullpen was overextended. The club made room for him the second time by switching Vernon Wells to the 60-Day disabled list, which opens a spot on the 40-Man roster without necessitating that a player be cut.

What is interesting here: The 40-Man roster now stands at 39. There was no reason to DFA Pauley unless a trade or big promotion form the minor leagues is imminent. With Romine up and Howie Kendrick not in the Monday night lineup, it behooves bloggers everywhere to check Howie's contract status and see if he has a no-trade clause (according to Cot's, Howie can "block deals to 15 clubs in 2012").
