Final Score in Anaheim: LA 3, LA 1
In the bottom of the eighth inning Mike Trout singled and stole second base. Torii Hunter made an out. Albert Pujols grounded out. Torii was charged with a LOB - Left On Base. Albert was not, because Trout advanced to 3B on the grounder. And so when the box score reads that the Angels left fifteen men on base, it means "Left on the base they were on before the Plate Appearance started".
With that in mind, the Angels gifted the Dodgers with a big fat Quinceañera present: fifteen men Left on Base. There were times that Angels baserunners moved around to better locations on the basepaths and the LOBsters were unswayed to record the lack of an RBI, but don't be under the illusion that there was really that much life to the bats tonight.
Ervin Santana has come full circle: he is back to being the pitcher who battles deep into low-scoring games with lots of strikeouts. He has been rewarded for this by also being the Angels pitcher who gets little run support. He recorded 10 strikeouts and no walks, gave up only 4 hits and 2 earned runs and gets the L. Bummer. Oh well, Texas lost and Eric Karros is not broadcasting the game tomorrow.
