A week ago the Angels were 7.5 games out of first place in the American League West. They played the A's, Yankees and Rangers and shaved three games off that deficit.

FRIDAY: Game Recap 6/1/12 -- Those footsteps are getting louder -- Angels 4 Rangers 2
The Monkey With A Halo Blog has an excellent recap of Friday's game.

SATURDAY: The Mike Trout Umpire Distortion Field: Angels 3, Rangers 2
Rob at the 6-4-2 Blog has an extensive analysis of a grinding epic game> Near the end he makes a cogent point. Texas fans have been excessively self-stroking over their team, comparing them tot he gold-standard 125-win 1998 Yankees World Champions. Rob points out that the Rangers have allowed 26 unearned runs so far this season wile the '98 Yankes allowed 37 all year. The Dallas Chumps of Arlington have fans as high as they are, apparently, and ones who don't know squat about baseball.

SUNDAY: Yeah, instead of linking you are probably still drinking over this one, visions of being 3.5 games behind a suicidal squad. The big red flag in this is Dan Haren throwing 104 pitches in only 5 innings. C.J. Wilson threw 105 in 6 on Saturday. Big difference. The pen is still a work in progress and having established the 8th and 9th is helping save Mike Scioscia's bacon at the moment, but the 6th and 7th need some solid go-to arms.

Meanwhile from the Bryan Harvey's Moustache blog, here is some analysis on the MIA bat Erick Aybar our shortstop of the present and future: Who is Erick Aybar this Year?
