The Los Angeles Angels have joined several other clubs in looking to acquire Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Zack Greinke before the deadline, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports:

The Los Angeles Angels have jumped into the race for Brewers star righthander Zack Greinke and are likely to battle their division rival Texas Rangers and others for Greinke -- assuming he becomes available.

A source close to Greinke believes that the Angels would be a "perfect fit" for the 28-year-old right-hander, but the team will have to overcome the much more desirable trade chips the Rangers and others have to offer.

The Brewers have made no guarantees that the former Cy Young winner will be available in the coming weeks, but that hasn't stopped teams from putting Greinke on their radar. In addition to the Angels and Rangers, the Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates have all been tied to the right-hander at some point.

The highly-coveted Greinke has a 3.32 ERA in 19 starts this season, striking out a batter per frame across 111 innings. The Brewers are expected to decide in the next week whether or not they will be sellers at the deadline.
