San Bernardino, CA - Angels starting pitcher Dan Haren will make a rehab start for the Inland Empire 66ers Monday, July 16. The three time All-Star has been on the disabled list with a back injury. He is expected to throw four to five innings when the 66ers take on the Lake Elsinore Storm Monday at 7:05 at San Manuel Stadium.
Haren has been a fixture in the Angels rotation since the team traded for him in July, 2010, and one of the game's elites on the mound since making his big league debut in 2003. Haren made his first All-Star team in 2007 and was elected again in 2008 and 2009. He has accumulated 113 career wins in 10 big league seasons. In 2009 he was the National League leader in walks and hits per inning pitched while with the Diamondbacks and has had the league's best strikeout to walk ratio from 2008 to 2010 averaging almost six strikeouts for every walk his last two seasons.
This will be Haren's first ever rehab start in the minor leagues. Haren has been one of the games most durable starters, leading the American League in starts in three of the last six seasons. That makes this Monday's game a rare opportunity to see one of baseball's best up close at San Manuel Stadium.
Tickets for Monday's game against Lake Elsinore can be purchased at the 66ers box office and online at www.66ers.com. Luxury suites and group picnic options are available through the 66ers front office. Fans are also encouraged to bring their dogs to the ballpark as it will be a Man's Best Friend Monday presented by the San Bernardino Valley Humane Society. First pitch form Dan Haren is scheduled for 7:05. For more information on the Inland Empire 66ers please contact Sam Farber, Director of Broadcasting, at 909-495-7632.
