The Angels placed Dan Haren on the disabled list this afternoon and recalled relief pitcher Kevin Jepsen from AAA Salt Lake. Here is my list of reasons why you should not be afraid by this move...

Looking up Jepsen's stint in offensively-prone Salt Lake reveals a decent ERA of 3.24 and a great strikeout rate of 35 Ks in 25 IP. Maybe this is an audition in the bigs to be traded a to a team so desperae that a reliever like the well-travelled and oft-injured Jepsen would appear to be a savior. Is there a team that could build a bullpen around Jepsen? I am speaking about one of the other 29 major league baseball teams not the independent leagues of the Northeast or your uncle's beer league bashers east of Berdoo.

If anything, it will be nice to see the jersey number 40 back in the bullpen of Anaheim, that double digit worn by all-time Angels greats Troy Percival and Frank Tanana. When the highlight of your career is your jersey number, though, bro, you got an uphill climb to impress the peanut gallery.
