He really might be the only Angels player who actually cares. We know he put his money where his mouth is when he signed a financially favorable contract last season. Financially favorable to the team, which, in a real way, is US, you and me and every Angels fan.

He is the only Angel starting pitcher to throw a pitch in the eighth inning of a game in July and August. Jered Weaver wants this team to go to the postseason. Perhaps even more than you and I do.

Ignore anyone trumpeting pitchers with more innings pitched as a sign that anyone but Weaver is deserving of the 2012 Cy Young Award. The sample size is sufficient, Weave is the man. If one guy on any field anywhere is charged for the playoffs it is the man who leads the American League in the following categories:

ERA: 2.13
WHIP: .916 (remember the days when Steve Physioc would spend the whole first inning explaining WHIP to the audience instead of calling the game?)
Hits Per 9 Innings Pitched: 6.4
ERA+: 176

Plus a No-Hitter, one of two shutouts and one of three complete games pitched.
