Peter Bourjos Sent to Angels Disabled List

Presswire
The LA ANGELS INSIDER blogsite is reporting that outfielder Peter Bourjos is being sent to the disabled list with a sore wrist. Add to this his lingering hip injury and you wonder why they even bother holding off on the supposedly much needed hip surgery.

Eric Denton at LAAI reports that Bourjos will be eligible to return to action on September 3 as this move is retroactive to the speedy fifth outfielder's last appearance in uniform, which was August 19, when he was used as a pinch runner in the bottom of the ninth inning and scored the winning run on a wild walk-off Wild Pitch. This game last week at home against the Mariners was only the 88th of the year in which he has appeared.

Pitcher Garrett Richards will be taking Speedy Petey's spot on the 25-man roster, an interesting shift that might not bode well for one of the starting five in the Angel rotation. Although Richards can pitch out of the pen, one can speculate wildly about the health of any Angels starter considering the terrible August the starting five have amassed.
