Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 6 Red Sox 5
Wow! Wow! Did not see this happening. Was tonight's game a promise of hope for the rest of the season or a tease?
blast21dave here: In a game where Jered Weaver did not have his "ace" command tonight, the Angels offense came up golden in the 9th inning. Erick Aybar was hit by the pitch with one out and Alberto Callaspo, pinch-hitting for Chris Iannetta, worked a four-pitch walk to send the golden child Mike Trout up to the plate who singled home the game tying run on an inside 0-2 pitch. Torii Hunter would get credit for the game winning RBI via a sacrifice fly to CF to score Trout.
Earlier in the game, Trout led off the home half of the first inning with his 25th home run of the season making him the first rookie in MLB history to slam 25 HRs and steal 40 bases during a rookie campaign. Albert Pujols also contributed a solo shot HR in the 6th inning for his 29th of the season. Howie Kendrick added two runs with a gap double to left-centerfield. Garrett Richards and Kevin Jepsen each pitched a scoreless frame in the 8th and 9th innings respectively.
With this win, the Angels are now 4.5 games back in the wild card chase with 32 games left.
