Counting Down to Opening Day, We Are Counting Down The 100 Walkoff Homers in Angels History. The 87th Walk Off Round Tripper was an Orlando Cabrera tiebreaker in extras over the Tribe.

April 21, 2005 - The Angels had signed Orlando Cabrera in December of 2004 the same day that they had released David Eckstein. While he never got outright booed as an Angel in his three seasons under the Halo, O-Cab deserved a little better. He was a lot better than Eckstein, which of course works against one when the lesser player is storied for "doing more with less". If he had been a second baseman there might not have been quite the grudging silence that greeted Cabrera in Anaheim, especially early in the 2005 season.

It was just his 16th game as an Angel when Cabrera led off the bottom of the tenth inning on a Thursday night game against the Indians. Starter Jarrod Wasshburn got tattooed for three on a bases-loaded double in the first inning by Jose Hernandez. In the second Wash gave up a two run homer to Ronnie Belliard and, well, maybe it was time to call it an early night.

In the fourth, Kevin Millwood gave up a two-run double to Darin Erstad after Chone Figgins had sac-flied home Cabrera. After the fifth, Estaban Yan pitched two scoreless innings and Brendan Donnelly pitched a scoreless 8th. Jose Molina singled home Maicer Izturis in the bottom of the eighth and it was 5-4 Tribe. After Jake Woods pitched a scoreless ninth, Garret Adnerson singled in Darin Erstad with two out in the bottom of the ninth to force extras.

Frankie struck out two of the three batters he faced in his 1-2-3 top of the tenth and got the Win when Cabrera hit a Jason Davis slider into the seats. It was the 87th walkoff homerun in Angels history.
