The details aren't quite clear yet, but what's clear is clear enough.
From the Angels to the Diamondbacks will be our beloved Mark Trumbo and a player to be named later, the latter of which will hinge on the events of the Rule V Draft.
From the Diamondbacks to the White Sox will be young outfielder Adam Eaton, squeezed out of a starting role in Arizona.
From the Diamondbacks to the Angels is our one-time draft choice, traded long ago for Dan Haren, Tyler Skaggs, under club control for six seasons with us. They also send us Hector Santiago, who they acquired from the White Sox for Eaton.
From the White Sox to the Diamondbacks is a player to be named later, likely ALSO hinging on the outcome of the Rule V Draft.
To simplify things:
Diamondbacks acquire 1B Mark Trumbo (LAA), Hector Santiago (CWS) and 2 PTBNL (1 LAA, 1 CWS).
Angels acquire SP Tyler Skaggs (ARZ) and SP Hector Santiago (ARZ).
White Sox acquire OF Adam Eaton (ARZ).
This may very well go down as Jerry Dipoto's finest deal yet. Sacrificing a power bat for not one, but TWO pitching arms that are under our control each for at least five years apiece (5 for Santiago, 6 for Skaggs). How well of a deal we pulled off will hinge on what we're giving to the White Sox for Santiago, and who exactly the Angels give up as a PTBNL, though it's widely expected to be the likes of Jeremy Berg, Matt Shoemaker or Carlos Ramirez.
UPDATE: Reports are coming out that AJ Schugel could be the Angels' player to be named later, but this is yet to be confirmed.
Thoughts, anyone?
