Howie Kendrick grounded into a game ending, bases loaded double play, and Joe Blanton lost for the sixth time, as the Angels lose to the Astros, 3-1. It's the second straight loss in Houston, the fourth straight loss overall, and their ninth loss out of their last 11 games. With a record of 11-22, the Angels are just 1.5 games ahead of Houston.

Joe Blanton went 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits while striking out 6 and walking none. Blanton allowed a solo home run to Chris Carter in the fifth inning. It was Carter's second homer of the series and the eighth Blanton has surrendered this season.

The Angels ended Bud Norris' bid for a shutout in the 7th when Josh Hamilton belted a breaking ball to the opposite field for his 3rd home run of the season.
