After injuring his left thumb on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, it was unknown if Peter Bourjos would head to the DL or not. As noted after the game, the x-rays were negative; however, LA Times' Mike DiGiovanna reported last night that the Angels CF is now listed as day-to-day. Furthermore, he said that Speedy Petey had an MRI which "revealed not structural damage." That's a good sign and I assume we can expect to see Bourjos soon since he said "once the swelling goes down, I can play."
As for Jason Vargas, he will be having surgery and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Vargas was scratched from the second game of the Pirates series after the blood clot was found. Soon after, he was sent to the 15-day disabled list.
