Peter Bourjos Not Heading to DL, Jason Vargas Having Surgery (UPDATED)

The speedy center fielder will NOT be heading to the disabled list. And to ease your thoughts on the Angels lefty, he will be having surgery to remove the blood clot from his armpit.

Get 'em!!
Get 'em!!

After injuring his left thumb on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, it was unknown if Peter Bourjos would head to the DL or not. As noted after the game, the x-rays were negative; however, LA Times' Mike DiGiovanna reported last night that the Angels CF is now listed as day-to-day. Furthermore, he said that Speedy Petey had an MRI which "revealed not structural damage." That's a good sign and I assume we can expect to see Bourjos soon since he said "once the swelling goes down, I can play."

As for Jason Vargas, he will be having surgery and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Vargas was scratched from the second game of the Pirates series after the blood clot was found. Soon after, he was sent to the 15-day disabled list.

UPDATE: Peter Bourjos entered Tuesday's game rout with with the Tigers. Seems like the swelling went down.
