Series Preview: @ Seattle Mariners

New, comments

After having a banana split with the Chicago Cubs, the Angels head to the Pacific Northwest to finish this half of the season with the Seattle Mariners.

The marquee matchup for this series in the Emerald City is most likely Jered Weaver for the Angels and Felix Hernandez for the Mariners. Weaver, who was out for a big chunk of the first half, has been getting hot as of late. In his last two starts, he has dominated both the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox. Hernandez, however, has been his usual self and continues to be a force. He hasn't lost a game in nearly two months but has only won three games since the beginning of June.

Lately both offensives have been strong. The Angels who ran up the scoreboard on the Cubs look to continue that; however, the Mariners, despite losing their last three games, have also been strong with the bats. In their last series with the Red Sox, the M's scored nineteen runs. Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols, Mark Trumbo & Co. have all been swinging and definitely look for them to take advantage of a shakey Joe Saunders early on.

Probable SPs -- Jerome Williams / Joe Saunders, Jered Weaver / Felix Hernandez, Joe Blanton / Hisashi Iwakuma

TV Schedule: Games 1, 2, and 3 will all be on FOX Sports West and ROOT Sports Northwest. Also, the third game will also be available for FREE on MLB.TV as part of their Game of the Day.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the All-Star Game!
