Jered Weaver is on the mound for the Angels and Colin Cowgill is on the bench, replacing Peter Bourjos who is on the disabled list for a non-displaced fracture of the wrist.

Cowgill was acquired from the Mets last week in exchange for Burlington Bees (Low-A) outfielder Kyle Johnson. If/when Cowgill plays in a game for the Halos, he will be the fortieth (40) player to wear the uniform for the team this season. The 2007 Angels used 42 players, total, over the whole season. The 2008 Angels 41.

Pujols held a pres conference in the dugout before the game - to a crush of media. It is the first time he is facing the Cardinals since winning them a World Championship in 2011 and leaving for free agency. Best quote of the presser is from MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez:
