Angels ALDS Game 1 Lineup: Power at the Bottom

New, 11 comments

There is some serious mashing going on at the bottom of tonight's lineup...

BOTH ARE IN
BOTH ARE IN
Victor Decolongon

Here is Mike Scioscia's lineup for GAME 1 of the American League Division Series between the Angels and the Royals:

Again...

  1. Kole Calhoun - LF
  2. Mike Trout - CF
  3. Albert Pujols - 1B
  4. Howie Kendrick - 2B
  5. David Freese - 3B
  6. Erick Aybar - SS
  7. Josh Hamilton - LF
  8. C.J. Cron - DH
  9. Chris Iannetta - C

The first four spots have been written in stone since early September and give us no surprises. Kudos to Scioscia for NOT putting his HamBone back at cleanup first chance he got.

Freese and Aybar flip flop at times so this is definitely a desire to get the natural righty bat higher up in the lineup. Freese has a little more pop too.

The lineup is kind of in half at the midpoint. Aybar has been leadoff hitter before and the thinking here could be to get him on base ahead othe Lefty - Righty combo of Hamilton and Cron. Batting Iannetta ninth gives the lineup a great turnover feel as Calhoun and trout are in position to drive Mister OBP in from this point.
