The Angels had a chance to be over .500 for the first time since opening day of last season.
Instead they are back under .500, familiar terrirtory.
Max Scherzer dominated the Angels in the way an ace does, but he is the #2 starter for the Tigers, right? Right. So how did our #2 starter, C.J. Wilson do? Well he threw 111 pitches over five innings, allowing four runs in the process and generally looking overmatched, stubbornly nibbling around the zone that the true ace of the team, Jered Weaver, dominated just a few hours ago last night.
Albert Pujols hit home run #498 off of Detroit's closer Joe Nathan but making a 5-1 ballgame a 5-2 ballgame in the ninth inning is about as meaningful as making love to the high school prom queen at the fifty year reunion - it would have been a game-changer early on but it is just a pleasant, sloppy afterthought that late in the game. If you don't believe me, pack up the Viagra to the big night when it rolls around for your grade and see...
Anyway - they can get right back to .500 tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM, see you then...
