Josh Hamilton Bone Bruise Keeps Angels at Status Quo

Hambone's jammed bone is why they call it rehab!

PLEASE...
PLEASE...
Bob Levey

After a few good ABs on Friday night in his minor league assignment with the Salt Lake Bees, Josh Hamilton bruised his thumb bone on a jammed pitch inside that he fought off with a too-hard swing. After sitting on Saturday and Sunday it was announced that he had bruised the bone and would try game action again on Wednesday.

The Halos have made due without Hambone for almost two months and they will likely play another week without him. Collin Cowgill is regressing at the plate but not in the field, Kole Calhoun finally got a hit after coming back in the middle of last week, and even Grant Green has yet to embarrass himself in the field. Sure, hold your breath whenever the ball is hit to the occasional presence of Raul Ibañez, but the Halos have one of the better records in baseball and Raul is better at the plate than J.B. Shuck.

So they call it rehab specifically for things like this, getting well enough to be major league reliable is a time-intensive process. The Angels can manage for another week. Be thankful Josh is not an Amy Winehouse fan. They tried to make him go to rehab and he said... uh, okay....
