The Angels have signed their second round pick Joe Gatto. He is a right handed starting pitcher out of St. Augustine Prep in Richland, New Jersey.

Gatto was considered the toughest signing of the draft as he had a commitment to play for the University of North Carolina and had leverage to get more money than his draft slot allowed, but Angels fans following him on Twitter (@JGatt33) knew better... having grown up 15 miles south of Mike Trout's MIllville, NJ home Gatto tweeted to @Trouty20 that there would be a reunion of South Jersey in Anaheim:

Days went by and the Angels signed 14 of their 40 draft picks but none of the top three. Gatto had already chalked an Angels A on his backyard practice field and tweeted it:

This kid is enthusiastic and ready to play.He even did his version of a Trout-Tweet (Trout is infamous on twitter for posting airrplanes and the city in which the Angels just landed). Here is his tweet after signing his contract and heading to the Angels Arizona operation:

Safely ensconced with the evaluators in Tempe, perhaps we will see Gatto with the Orem Owlz alter n the Pioneer league season. Last year they had top pick Hunter Green just sit the whole thing out so don't be surprised if Gatto is secreted away until 2015. Anything an happen, but from here on out, it will happen with the Angels.
